40 years, 40 tricks

今回は16歳でスケートを始め、今年で40歳を迎えた「Jonas Lyxzen」が魅せる40のトリックを収めた映像。サムネイルにもなっているウォールライドノーズグラブアウトが渋い！以下は彼のメッセージ。

I am turning 40 today and this is my "40 years, 40 tricks" video. I started skateboarding when I was about 16 years old back in 1987. It was my older brother Dennis that first got a skateboard and made me want to try to and I have been hooked ever since. I have been skating on and off for about 26 years now, sometimes less and sometimes more depending on what has been going on in my life. 

When we were younger we all thought that we could probably skateboard until we were about 30 years old, and after that our body would be all worn out and "real life" with work, kids, and family would have started. But we were totally wrong and I am still skating, having fun and learning new tricks. 

For younger skaters this part might not seem like much, a couple of flips and tricks flashing by, but for me, a few of these tricks took quite some effort since they are totally new to me. And getting older, I am not as brave as before and it takes longer time to learn tricks because the body reacts slower, the muscle memory is worse and when I slam, I fall like timber and it takes longer to recover. 

Skateboarding for me has always been about individuality, about creativity and most important, about having fun. It is not about competing or comparing yourself to other people. Never forget that, and get out there and have fun with your friends.
